When I think about influence, I find myself in the minority and majority. Most leaders like myself, recognize their influence is alive and well and is at work around them, even if it’s not pushed or planned. Influence happens!! If your breathing you have been influenced and are influencing. Positive or Negative, that’s the question. Your life and leadership reveal the answer. Given today’s culture, I am in a minority as well. This minority consist of people who didn’t have to search past home to find a positive and powerful example of influence. My dad, has made the greatest impact on me as a leader especially, when it comes to influence.
Enjoy a few things from an exhaustive list I have learned from his leadership.
1. Having influence takes no effort. Being a positive and powerful influence, means being intentional about it.
2. How you respond to failure has a greater influence on others than all your successes combined.
3. Never allow anyone you lead to cross over any line that hurts your ability to influence them.
4. Your body may grow weaker with age but, your influence doesn’t have to follow. It should grow stronger with age.
